Dave Zagunis, Executive Director

Dave has worked with urban youth for most of his life. He was director of the Higher Education Resource Center (HERC) in Lawrence, MA from 2000 to 2007.  In late 2007, Dave helped start the La Vida Scholars program in Lynn at the invitation of La Vida founder, Bob Hildreth.  Dave and his wife, Carmen Ana Rodriguez, reside in Revere, MA and are members of Congregacion Leon de Juda in Roxbury, MA.


Jessica Johnson, Operations Manager

Jessica came to Boston from Minnesota in 2013 after graduating from Hamline University with a degree in Anthropology. She completed 2 years of Americorps service; the first at Phoenix Charter Academy and the second at La Vida. After her year of service ended, she continued to work on curriculum design, advising students and teaching class before taking on a new full-time role this year as Operations Manager.


Allison Zacarias, Program Manager

Allison is a graduate of the La Vida Scholars class of 2010. With the support of La Vida, she was awarded the Posse Scholarship and attended Bryn Mawr College with a degree in Sociology and Spanish. After graduating in 2014, she completed 2 years of service with the AmeriCorps Massachusetts Promise Fellowship, running the College Prep and Career Exploration programs at Boston's Youth Enrichment Services (Y.E.S.). With her personal and professional experience working with college access and success programs, she knew this was the career for her. After completing her second year of service, she joined La Vida, feeling very excited to serve her community and give back to an organization that served her as a youth.


Diana Vasquez, Americorps Mentoring Coordinator

As a first-generation college graduate and La Vida alumna ('12), Diana is delighted to give back to her community, serving as the AmeriCorps Tutoring and Mentoring Coordinator. She graduated in 2016 from Salem State University with a degree in Business where she was involved with the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and the Association of Professional Latinos for America (ALPFA). As the AmeriCorps member, Diana helps design curriculum, advises students, and coordinates tutoring for the La Vida Scholars; she is also facilitating monthly Learning Circles for parents in partnership with Inversant, La Vida's partner organization. While she is completing her year of service, Diana resides in Lynn with her mother and abuelita.


Beatriz Salazar, Operations Associate

Beatriz Salazar grew up in Lynn, MA and was part of the LVS Class of 2011. In 2016, she graduated from Salem State University with a degree in Accounting. She is currently working on her Master of Business Administration degree, also at Salem State University.
