La Vida, Inc. is a faith-based organization dedicated to serving the spiritual and material needs of Latinos residing in and around the City of Lynn, Massachusetts in partnership with St. Joseph's Parish. Our mission is to generally educate and assist Latino youth and adults through a wide range of services to obtain a higher education, civic and faith involvement, and promote moral values. Originally a small, faith-based organization who produced a Catholic newspaper for 36 parishes, La Vida evolved to provide five educational programs for youth and adults to prepare them for self-sufficiency. Our bilingual staff coordinate programming for youth and adults that include afterschool, college prep, ESL, Spanish literacy, citizenship and consular processing and assistance, religious study and cultural and recreational activities. These activities best assist families by helping youth achieve their fullest potential in a safe, positive environment. We have the only extracurricular program in the City of Lynn of its kind as a nonprofit led and run predominantly by bilingual and bicultural Latinos. All of La Vida’s programs are integrated to ensure a family-centered approach. La Vida continues to grow and improve. 2001 inaugurated our first afterschool program, Youth Enrichment Services (YES) to help middle and high school students achieve their fullest potential in their academics and overall well-being. In 2008 it was licensed by our the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care to operate a school-age child care program. The MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded us a contract for Supplemental Educational Services in 2009. Family participation in our college savings program tripled in three years. We just received funding for 45 education Individual Development Accounts (IDA). We are excited that we have so much to offer our community in such a short time. We hope La Vida serves as a model for similar organizations addressing their community's needs.
Nuestra Misión La Vida Inc., ha estado ofreciendo servicios a las familias inmigrantes que residen en Lynn, Massachusetts desde el año 1996. En el año 2001 nosotros empezamos nuestro primer programa después de escuela llamado La Vida “Y.E.S” (Programa de Enriquecimiento para Jóvenes) para asistir a estudiantes de la escuela intermedia y estudiantes de bachiller lograr el máximo potencial en lo académico y bienestar general. Nuestro personal bilingüe coordinado los programas de jóvenes – LA VIDA YES, LA VIDA SCHOLARS y Programa Académico de Verano; y los programa para adultos tal como; Clases de Ciudadanía en Inglés y Español, Clases de Ingles Básico, y Clases de Alfabetización en Español. Todos los programas están dirigidos hacia la misión de nuestra agencia; para asistir espiritual y materialmente en bienestar de todos los latinos jóvenes y adultos proveyendo una amplia gama programas que incluye preparación para la universidad, Inglés básico como segundo idioma, Alfabetización en Español, Clases de Ciudadanía en Inglés y Español, Asistencia Consulares Guatemalteca Móvil, Estudios Religiosos, y Actividades Culturales y Recreativas. Estas actividades asisten mejor la familias de los jóvenes ayudándoles obtener su mejores potenciales académicamente en un lugar seguro y un ambiente positivo. Nuestra sociedad con la Parroquia San José, una de las parroquia más grande en el estado, forma básica de la comunidad que asistimos. Nosotros tenemos único programa extracurricular en la ciudad de Lynn de su clase. Todos los programas de La Vida se integran para asegurar un acercamiento centrado en la familia.
