Meagan is currently a junior at Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute and part of our LVS Class of 2018. She joined our program in September of 2015 and is currently part of SkillsUSA, a program for vocational schools around the country where she learns and develops skills needed for future careers. Throughout the year, they compete with other schools at a district, state, and national level as well as complete many hours of community service.

We caught up with her and asked a couple questions, take a look below!

UMass Dartmouth, Clark University, and Bentley University! However, the last school we visited was Williams College and it’s now number one on my list. The campus was also beautiful, set right in the middle of the Purple Valley.

It would be really thin made with olive oil instead of tomato sauce topped off with cheese, pepperoni, broccoli, mushroom, spinach, chicken, ham, and love. Don’t forget the cheesy crust!

Who is your hero? Why?

You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?

I would be a light blue with a swirl of yellow. I would be called “Mellow Yellow” to represent the joys and sadness in life.

What is your favorite La Vida memory?

My first year in the program [10th grade] was when my class was still getting acquainted with Jessica Johnson, Operations Manager who would go on to become my college advisor and mentor. She created a game for us to play outside and get us all moving. It was very simple, just throwing around a beach ball so that it never touched the ground, but it was very memorable to me.

Why do you want to go to college?

Going to college will be the ultimate achievement for me because it’s what my dad fought so hard for me to be able to do.

A junior at Lynn English High School, Olga Hernandez was a second-year addition to LVS, but managed to fit right in with the already tight-knit group of 19 other students. Some of the colleges she’s looking forward to applying to are Harvard, Tufts, Emmanuel, Boston College, and Northeastern! We have no doubt that Olga will achieve her goals – her upbeat attitude and dedicated work ethic are just some of her outstanding qualities.

My sister [Heidy Hernandez, LVS ‘13] is my hero! She has worked so hard throughout her college career, always getting amazing grades. She will graduate almost debt-free and already has a job offer at Beverly Hospital. In May, she will have achieved her goal of becoming a registered nurse. She is my role model and I hope to be just like her.

What are your top two (because let’s be real, you can’t pick just one) Disney movies?

Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo

My entire family is my hero. Why do you want to go to college?

I want to be independent and able to sustain myself financially. I hope to find a profession that I love doing and is stress-free. Another main reason is to make all the sacrifices my family made worthwhile. They really worked hard for me to have this opportunity.
